GUIDELINES FOR EMAILING TEXT TO TERRI

I prefer email to almost anything else, and once you get used to it, I think you will too. However, there are few things you need to know about sending things via email.

FIRST: Don't send me attachments of any kind. This means no Microsoft Word files, no Netscape files, no pictures of any sort. I just want to see PLAIN TEXT. To do this, cut and paste your writing out of your word processing programming into the body of your email, and send it that way.

NEXT: When you use email, YOU are responsible for making sure your papers get to me. One good way to do this is to "cc" yourself when you send anything to me. This way you know the mail was at least delivered okay on your end.

FINALLY: Please keep copies of your own cc's until you are SURE I have your paper. It is a good way to prove you sent things to me on time.

My Office Hours
Fall Semester 2000
Day Time Location Important Notes:
Tuesdays 2:00-3:30 pm Dept of Drama, TBA Though Tuesdays are my "walk in" hours, I know some students have busy schedules and won't want to sit around waiting to talk to me. If you email me (don't call me) 24 hours in advance, we can set up a 15 minute appointment time. Please put "OFFICE HOURS" in the email heading, so I know to pay attention to the mail! Otherwise, I'll see students on a first-come, first-served basis.
Other Days by appt. only Other times by appt. only Location TBA If the above day and time is bad for you to meet, don't despair! We can work out a day and time to meet in person. Just email me with the days and times that are best for you, and we'll go from there. Please put "OFFICE HOURS" in the email heading, so I know to pay attention to the mail!
One final thing---and it's important.
In the grand scheme of things, appointments with me aren't as significant as say, a dental visit or breaking up with your boyfriend. I understand that things come up (they'll probably come up for me, too) and we'll have to reschedule from time to time. I only ask that you DON'T BLOW ME OFF. Respect me (and your fellow classmates) by cancelling office hours with at LEAST an hour's notice. This way I can get on with my life and not worry about whether you are coming to see me. Thanks.

My Virtual Office Fall
Semester
2000

If meeting at school is inconvenient for you, we can chat about your work, in real-time over the Internet. Remember, private chats are by appointment ONLY.
The method I'm using for chatting is AOL's Instant Messenger.

My AIM screen name is TerriSenft.

WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME WHEN YOU ARE AT SCHOOL/WORK

Use these instructions when you are working from your home computer, or a machine that easily permits downloads:

First, if you are on America Online (AOL), you already have Instant Messenger software installed. Just send me a message!

If you aren't on AOL, no problem. What you need to do is download the Instant Messenger software (for free!)

Once you have installed Instant Messenger software on your computer, you can use the AIM Remote bar below

Sometimes, you'll be working on a computer that does not let you install Instant Messenger client software (e.g., some of the computer labs machines; some work machines behind firewalls.) But don't worry!

You can still send me an instant message, using the
AIM Express System (or the Quick Buddy system, with older Web browsers.)To do so, click HERE.

Finally, here are some tips regarding the AOL Instant Mesage lingo:

WHAT THE BUTTON (ABOVE) SAYS WHAT THE BUTTON DOES
"Send me an instant message button" sends a real-time "hello" FROM you TO me.
"Add me to your buddy list button" puts MY name on YOUR buddy list (useful if you want to know when I'm online.)
"Join my chatroom button " takes you to a private class chat held under "terrisenft". I may or may not be there, but you are welcome to hang out and talk about the class with anyone who stops by!
"Send me email button" Allows YOU to send email to ME.

"Add remote to your page"
directs you to AOL's website, if you feel like putting one of these banners on your own home page.
